Tiran Karl XVI, hated by the whole kingdom, is afraid to speak a word, but falls in love with a simple shepherd and does everything to marry her. She, in turn, loves a chimney sweeper whose feelings for the girl are evenly deep. With a help from some bird, they manage to escape from the king, however, the police soon gets on their feet... Paul Grimault's most famous animated film has received Louis Deliccio award and was nominated for the Chicago International Film Festival's main award. Based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, the film was a collaboration between Grimault and popular French poet and screenwriter Jacques Prevert.
